St. JOHN Bar

The bar at St. JOHN is open:
Monday to Friday from 11.00 am until 11.00 pm
Saturday from 6.00 pm until 11.00 pm
Sunday from 12.00 pm until 5.00 pm
ELEVENSES

Our bar menu begins in earnest from midday during the week and from 6.00 pm on Saturdays, however should you pass by the restaurant at 11.00 am on weekday mornings there is a dish available for those of you in need of some mid-morning support as Fergus explains...
"At eleven o’clock you have woken up and got in touch with your extremeties, spittle has begun to flow. It’s time for Elevenses.
Seed Cake and Maderia is the perfect combination for this hour - just the right amount of sustenance to safely see you through to lunch time.
Don’t be alarmed by a break in your morning, Seed Cake and Maderia is a quick affair, rather like a fire work display - a splendid, invigorating moment and then you move on... uplifted."
And our breads, Eccles Cakes and coffees are served Monday to Friday from 11.00 am.
BAR MENU

The bar menu at St. JOHN changes daily as the service rolls along from midday or 6.00 pm on Saturdays.
Dishes include Anchovy Toast, Welsh Rarebit, Terrines, Salads and Soups and some dishes from the starter section of the dining room menu.
Because of the frequency with which the menu changes we can’t post it up on the site every day but will post a sample bar menu up from our blackboard shortly.
PRIVATE HIRE AND RECEPTIONS
The bar area can be taken partially or privately for function hire though availability depends on bookings for the dining room and although we will close the bar for general use we do still permit diners with reservations in the dining room to use the bar for pre-lunch or supper drinks.
We have a range of dishes geared towards informal dining in the bar which can take the form of a buffet, canape service or you can go the whole hog so to speak and have a suckling pig carved and put in to buns for your guests.
Below is a selection of dishes to choose from for your party, if there’s something else you have in mind you would like served do let us know and we can tailor a menu to your specific needs. The price per head, rather like our feasting menus, is dependent on the dishes you select and rather than try and have a selection of the whole bar party menu served we suggest that you select up to four dishes from the list.
For details regarding booking your reception, deposits and confirmation policy please refer to the feasting menus which you’ll find by scrolling to the bottom of the menus page, click on the link in the menu bar to the left.
We’ve broken the list of dishes for bar parties down into four categories and you can mix and match as you please...
